Hello and Welcome to the Textile Trunk This beautiful textile is an antique hand-woven hemp and wool blanket. This stunning blanket was woven by hand in the Carpathian Mountain Region of Europe about 100-120 years ago. These blankets are rare and wonderful, with a beautiful natural texture and look! This blanket uses a complex weave and is woven using both linen (heavy hemp) and natural wool from goats. The colors are a pale natural hemp off-white, black, green, purple and red stripes. The woven plaid stripes appear on both sides. This blanket was constructed by first hand weaving the 2 lengths, which were then hand stitched together in a very primitive hand stitched seam down the middle. The ends are hand stitched with a hem.

This lovely heavy textile weighs over 5 pounds and has a wonderful natural, heavy texture! The complex weave is fairly open. Beautiful and heavy weight gorgeous quality. It would make a STUNNING throw or small bed cover or could also be used as upholstery, pillow or heavy curtain fabric. A perfect gift for any textile lover and a wonderful textile for any collection!

(E35) CONDITION : This blanket is in as found condition. We recommend dry cleaning this blanket if you choose to wash, as the dye will bleed in a home washing machine. There are some small voids in the weave since this is wool.

Some of the small threads of the wool are broken or puckered in some spots. One or two pale marks that may or may not wash fully. A truly authentic, rustic textile! Beautiful condition for it's age! MEASUREMENTS : This wonderful textile measures about 57.5 inches wide by 80 inches long.
